About ReCandle Company Our candle making passion stems from way back in the old hippie days, when we would make sand candles. Then life evolved to include travelling the world, raising children, and living the most “green” life we could. Over the past 15 years we have been saving all our “candle butts” with the idea that we might like to make candles again. About 12 years ago everything fell into place and we began the journey of making candles out of 100% recycled and reclaimed wax. It’s important to note that all the candles we make have new eco-friendly wicks without zinc or lead. They also have their original scent, so with a multi-layered candle you may get more than one scent. We decided that we wanted to be as totally recycled as we could with our candles and candle making. All our molds were fabricated out of scrap stainless steel pipe that was gathered from a local metal recycling business. Our entire workspace is made of recycled and scrap wood from the remodeling of our home, and from construction sites. The top of the workbench was once our closet doors, and that stove was once in our kitchen! The scrap wax is stored in old recycle bins from the local sanitation company. After a candle has been made we add a 100% recycled white paper label from onlinelabels.com to the bottom and decorate the candle with baubles and strings collected through junking and treasure hunting. The candles are wrapped in cello bags with ties to preserve their scent and stored upright in boxes to preserve their color. They are all ready to give as gifts or to enjoy yourself! It’s a true labor of love. |
